Northstar Expansion

Extended Service for the Northstar Corridor

The first phase of the Northstar Commuter Rail Line is under construction and will begin operations in late 2009. Northstar trains will provide service along a 40-mile portion of the corridor from Big Lake to Minneapolis. As demand for commuter rail service grows, the Northstar Corridor Development Authority hopes to extend the line to its originally planned end point in St. Cloud.

The Northstar Corridor is an 82-mile transportation corridor that runs along Highway 10 from the St. Cloud area to downtown Minneapolis. It is one of the fastest growing corridors in Minnesota and the nation. In fact, it is projected that there will be more than 850,000 people living in the corridor by 2025.
